EVO ICL

EVO ICL

EVO ICL at Northwest Eye Surgeons

If you’re tired of depending on glasses or contact lenses for clear vision, the EVO ICL may be the solution you’ve been looking for. This innovative vision correction procedure offers a safe, effective way to achieve the clear sight you deserve.

What is the EVO ICL?

EVO ICL is an Implantable Collamer Lens (ICL) designed to correct nearsightedness and astigmatism. The small flexible lens is placed behind the iris (the colored part of the eye) and in front of the natural crystalline lens in order to improve vision.

The EVO ICL works by correcting the way light enters your eye. Once positioned behind the iris, the lens helps focus light properly onto the retina for clear, sharp vision.

What Happens During the EVO ICL Procedure?

Your EVO ICL procedure at Northwest Eye Surgeons is performed in our state-of-the-art surgical facility and typically takes about 15 minutes per eye. To begin, you are given an oral sedative and topical anesthetic drops to keep you comfortable during the procedure.

After numbing the surface of your eyes with anesthetic drops, your eye doctor will create a small opening in your cornea that will be used to insert and position the EVO ICL.

The opening is so small, no stitches are needed and it will naturally heal during your recovery. For most patients, the procedure is virtually painless and it typically takes less than 20 – 30 minutes.

Patients typically experience improved vision right away and a quick recovery time.

Benefits of EVO ICL

The EVO ICL offers numerous advantages that make it a great vision correction option for many patients:

  • Provides clear, sharp vision
  • 20 to 30-minute procedure
  • Quick recovery time
  • Offers UV protection
  • Great option for patients with thin corneas
  • Does not cause dry eye syndrome
  • Excellent vision both day and night
  • Not visible once in place
  • Removable by your surgeon for flexibility to allow for future procedures as necessary

These benefits combine to make the EVO ICL a proven, effective solution for vision correction with a track record of patient satisfaction.

Is EVO ICL Right for Me?

EVO ICL can be a great option for a wide variety of people. Ideal candidates for EVO ICL are aged 21 to 45 with nearsightedness, with or without astigmatism, and have maintained a stable prescription for at least one year. If you are seeking a solution to decrease or eliminate the cost and inconvenience of traditional contacts or glasses, EVO may be your answer.

To determine if EVO ICL is right for you, schedule a comprehensive consultation with your eye care professional. During this appointment, your doctor will evaluate your eye health, measure your prescription, and assess the structure of your eyes to ensure you’re a suitable candidate for the procedure. With our advanced technology, we are able to obtain extremely precise measurements of your eye to determine proper ICL sizing to avoid potential post-surgical complications.

What is the Recovery Like After the EVO ICL Procedure

Recovery from EVO ICL is typically quick and comfortable for most patients. You may experience some mild discomfort, light sensitivity, or slight blurriness immediately after the procedure, but these effects usually subside within a few hours to a day. Most patients notice improved vision right away, with continued improvement over the following days.

You’ll receive eye drops to prevent infection and reduce inflammation, which you’ll use as directed by your doctor. It’s important to avoid rubbing your eyes and to wear the protective eyewear provided, especially while sleeping, for the first few days.

Most patients can return to work and normal daily activities within 24 to 48 hours, though you should avoid strenuous exercise and swimming for about a week.

Follow-up appointments are scheduled to monitor your healing progress, typically at one day, one week, and one month after surgery. Your doctor will clear you for specific activities as your eyes heal, ensuring the best possible outcome for your vision correction.

How Does the EVO ICL Compare to Other Vision Correction Procedures?

EVO ICL offers unique advantages compared to other vision correction options. Unlike LASIK, SMILE and PRK, which permanently reshape your cornea, the EVO ICL is reversible and doesn’t alter your natural eye structure. This makes it an excellent choice for patients with thin or irregular corneas, dry eyes, or higher prescriptions who may not be good candidates for laser surgery.

EVO ICL can treat a wider range of prescriptions and doesn’t carry the risk of dry eye syndrome that some laser procedures can cause.

EVO ICL can also be removed or replaced if your vision needs change in the future, which is a feature not available in most other vision correction procedure options. Your eye care professional can help determine which option best suits your individual needs and lifestyle.

Take the Next Step Toward Clear Vision

Don’t let glasses or contacts limit your lifestyle any longer. The EVO ICL could be your path to the freedom and confidence that comes with clear, natural vision.
